COMING NEXT: FAME JR!

BAS JUNIOR!

Performing Arts Workshop
for Teens & Children, ages 6 to 17

Theatre for Children, Performed by Children ENROLLMENT IS TAKING PLACE NOW!

The BAS Junior Theatre Workshop of "Fame Jr" begins July 15th and over the course of 9 weeks, instructs young performers ages 7 to 17 years in the basics of music, dance and acting. Director Stacey Loew & Music Director Jessika Speer are excited about this production choice and hope you and your children will be too.

This musical adaptation based on the hit movie of the same name, features a high-energy, contemporary pop score (which includes the hit title song) and a touching coming-of-age story.
Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts, FAME JR. is the bittersweet, but ultimately inspiring, story of a diverse group of students who commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work.

Among them is the fame-obsessed Carmen, the ambitious actress Serena, the wisecracking comedian/bad boy Joe, the quiet violinist Schlomo, the "talented but dyslexic" dancer Tyrone, the determined actor Nick, the overweight dancer Mabel, and the serious dancer, Iris, from a poor family.

With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today. FAME JR’s topical subject matter and a cast that can include plenty of singers, dancers and instrumentalists, (yes, BAS welcomes young musicians,) is an ideal musical for aspiring artists and performers. We hope to see you in 2 weeks!

FAME JR. will begin Monday, July 15 and takes place Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 6pm till 8:30pm for 9 weeks. Then performers showcase what they have learned with 3 performances on September 13, 14 & 15.

Tuition and materials remain the same low price of $150.00 and $20.00 for materials, totaling $170.00.

Checks made payable to BAS, are to be mailed to P.O. Box 861 Vallejo 94590

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

The timeless “Wizard of Oz” tale has been adapted into a dazzling musical.  A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz.  When Dorothy’s house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch’s powerful silver slippers.  From there, Baum’s lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz.

While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister.  This bright musical is charged with a bundle of wonderful songs and thrill after thrill...  like the escape from the Fighting Trees and encountering the enchanted poppies.

Eventually, Glinda the Good Witch helps Dorothy defeat the evil witch and her winged monkeys.  The great and powerful wizard grants Dorothy’s friends their wishes and of course, helps Dorothy return to Kansas.
